More book cover art for Tales of the Continuing Time series. 04/25/2011

A couple of weeks ago Dan Moran asked if I would be up to doing some follow up covers for the previous books of his Tales of Continuing Time series going up on Amazon. What I wanted to say was ‘HELLZ YES! LETS DO IT!’ but I was leaving town that very week for a funeral and a baptism. I tried really hard to make it happen while on the trip. I even had Luke set up a remote desktop solution so that I could access my computer and get it done while back in Cali. I never really used remote desktop stuff before and found it rather neat. Luke set up TeamViewer on a usb drive that allowed me to access my home computer and it worked better than I expected. If it weren’t for spotty net connection and a very temperamental computer at my sister’s house I might have got those covers that weekend. As it was I was able to leave nasty little messages on wordpad and left open on the screen for Luke to see and he would respond in kind with notes I would find the next time I log in. (Oh, sure, we could’ve texted each other but where’s the fun in that?)
At any rate, once I got back I got to work on those covers and the results are quite satisfying. I’d love to do more in the future.
By the way, no matter what you may think of the covers you really want to read these books.
Book Cover Art: Daniel Keys Moran’s The A.I. War 03/28/2011

Buried as I am under laundry and whatever messes my ten month old son has seen fit to unleash upon me, I don’t get lots of time to peruse the internet like I once did. Therefore I am somewhat behind in my news and blog feeds and such. Taking a break this weekend I sat down to read my feeds and saw that a friend of mine, Daniel Keys Moran was going to release his book The AI War: The Big Boost. He had some possible cover art posted and while they would’ve done the job fine, I thought such a long awaited book deserves a little bit of a push -a little something extra. I offered to do a rendition for him even though I knew the deadline would be kinda tight. I dunno, is twenty-four hours a tight deadline? It was a bit hectic for about five hours or so, with conversations via Facebook, texting and emails but it came together last minute and it doesn’t seem to suffer because of it. One of those serendipitous things, I guess.
If you enjoy science fiction, do yourself a favor and pick up the previous Tale of Continuing Time stories Emerald Eyes and The Long Run as well.
Now back to the project that this little cover thingy interrupted. It involves drawing a motorcycle – I am as excited as I am intimidated! XD

::Erica Friedman’s interview with Nakamura Ching::
I am so glad that I caught the link to this interview from Erica Friedman (@Yuricon on Twitter). If you are interested in making manga or comics – heck, if you are a creative soul give this is a read. Nakamura Ching is the creator of the manga Gunjo. Her honesty and kindness is only matched by her fascinating insight. It’s the kind of interview you come away with wanting to know the person, buying them a drink and hanging out with them.
::$10 Sketch/b&w portrait drive done::
Thanks to those who participated, KaMu has breakfuss burritos. If you missed my $10 sketch drive, fret not: there will be others. In the mean time you can still put in an art commission. Shoot me an email and we can sort out the details. [ahg.design.illustration - (via Gmail)]
::Fickly – short short stories::
Here is my answer to a Ficly challenge: Write about what you would do if you did not have to be good. NO limits No reastrictions.
One Last Detail
“So where’d ya get it?” He said as he lifted his chin a degree, pointing at the magazine I had placed on the table between us.
I shrugged and tried to sound cavalier. “I’m a thief.”
He smiled and sipped his coffee, allowing my lie. With a single finger he pinned the corner of the envelope that poked out from under the magazine. He slid it off the table and smoothly into the inside pocket of his jacket. “It’s all good.”
He took another sip and started to scoot his bulk out of the booth.
“Wait- ” Realizing my part was over I suddenly remembered something.
“Lady, we’re done here.”
“No. I want to ask something…uh. Additional.”
“The arrangements have already been made.” He was already standing.
“I’ll pay extra.”
He frowned but remained standing at the end of the table. I looked at his massive hands and licked my lips before continuing, “See. He- he’s got this great smile. Brilliant teeth.” Remembering those perfect teeth I met the dark scowl.
“I want those to go first. Before everything else.”

I just updated my deviantArt journal announcing my availability for commissions. On the whole scheme of things this is relatively inexpensive pricing for commissioned work. Now is a good time to get you some custom character art done by yours truly
Check it out! Commissions by KaMu
