I’ve been away from the ninnernet for a few days so I wasn’t able to post about Moebius when I wanted to. He was a HUGE influence on my heart, mind and eye. I am actually finding it hard to put together the words. Despite my lack of words, understand that there is profound sadness in his passing and profound gratitude for the spark he lit in that little day dreamer so long ago.

Well now…
kewpie doll with cthulhu's head
In spite of me feeling like my creative side was assassinated by mommy hormones, I’ve actually got lots going on artistically. It’s hard to explain that I’m not really being creative with my latest projects. I’m simply mashing things together in a creative way. What I mean is that my ability to draw something from scratch is still gone. My ability to imagine certain imagery is just not… there. Interestingly enough, it seems this type of artist block or blindness has awakened other creative senses. It’s less deliberate and more stream-of-consciousness but I am definitely on some kind of wavelength. I guess you’ll see what I mean once I start showing off some of the things I’ve got going on. [As always, this is where I put in my disclaimer about what I can get done is actually contingent upon my little drooling overlord allowing me the time to do so.]

The first couple things I’m highlighting today are Cupie-thulhu and Azucar. Two designs I’ve put up on my zazzle store: chaos industry.

Cupie-thulhu was inspired by my friend’s little 1yr old girl, Lili. She’s a cutie but a force to be reckoned with for sure. It was initially just going to be one shot design for her but it came out so well I thought I might see if other people would like it on tee shirts.

Azúcar funny enough came to me while I was getting sugar out of the pantry. It was a bilingual package and I just loved the way Azucar looked. Said to meself: That needs to be on a T-shirt. So there ya go.

My typical ‘morning’, which starts promptly at the crack of noon, does not have me kablinking and laughing “OH, HELLZ YEAH!” first thing; but that’s because it’s not every ‘morning’ I find Twitter delivering sweet little link like this:
KaMu by samex amen

Samax Amen of GhettoManga drew KaMu! It was something I requested as a sketch portrait. I love his style and wanted to see what KaMu would look like. It was quite a nice little surprise. I’m kinda giddy about it.^^

If you Twitter you need to follow @ghettomanga. Also: There’s a MF Doom contest going on at the GhettoManga you should check out. I’m considering an entry for that contest if I can get some of my current projects under control.

Ah. Speaking of projects here’s my report since the last post:

It’s been all kinds of crazy and the really crazy shit hasn’t even happened yet!

So it’s been a few weeks since I left the dayjob and embarked on my career as an artist. Well, let me tell you, I have been nothing but busy trying to get my portfolio together and figuring out how this whole networking thing works.

One of the hardest things I have come up against is the management of time. Since I’ve been an adult most of my waking hours haven’t been my own. So now that I have a good block of time back to use at my discretion I’m finding out there’s a muscle called time-management that is seriously atrophied. Add to that a low-grade insomnia throwing off any decent sleep pattern and I’m fighting really hard to get myself in the seat and working. The key thing is I AM getting my ass in the chair and working. Not as early or as much as I want or need to be but I am making progress. Getting the sleep pattern/disruption thing under control is the key to this bottle neck.

…Twitter.
Oh, beautiful, precious Twitter. You are at once a blessing and a bane. I am enjoying all the information and connections on Twitter. The people. Damnit, there are so many awesome people! There is no denying that Twitter is a powerful tool for a creative professional; and yet, it is a seductive time sink. Gawd, I love it so effing much! But I am finding out that I get more work done when I set it aside. *sigh* Well, okay. I’m not about to give it up so I’ve gotta find a way to make it work.

blog currently under construction.
There’s some blank pages waiting for content and other unfinished things. Also: the current header image is not my art -its only a place holder until I can get my own header image going. I believe it’s part of a wallpaper of a Korean anime called Wonderful Days. I always wanted to see Wonderful Days because it had so much great promo art but I never got to see it. In fact it seemed to me to drop off the radar before it’s proposed released date. Well, one of these days I’ll catch it or something.
